We brought Akari home from the shelter almost a week ago to foster.
She’s only 2, heartworm positive, and has a stage 5 heart murmur. She can’t be treated yet. She needs an echocardiogram first, and right now she’s just waiting for a rescue to step up for her.
In the meantime, she’s here.
And she’s struggling.
I’ve worked with a lot of high anxiety dogs. I’ve used heavy duty crates, I’ve managed tough cases.
But I’ve never had one like this.
Akari has already broken out of two “indestructible” crates. She bent the metal, got out overnight, and chewed through my wall and door frame trying to escape.
Even with sedation, I can’t safely contain her right now.
And if I can’t fix that, she has to go back to the shelter.
I don’t want that for her.
I’m willing to put in the time and give her the chance to settle, to feel safe, and to see who she is once she’s not in survival mode.
But I need the right tools to get her there.
She needs a true high anxiety, escape proof crate.
We’re trying to raise funds for an Impact high anxiety crate, and for her size it runs around $1,200.
We’re covering part of the cost, but between the crate and the damage already done, we could really use some help.
If we can just get her through this part, I really believe she has a chance.
If you can donate or share, it means everything.
