My name is Courtney, I am 34 and I have terminal stage 4 Cervical Cancer. Recently my doctors have told me on Christmas Eve of 2025 that I have up to 2 years of my life left, and anything over that is a blessing. I was diagnosed in September of 2024. It has been an insane journey up to this point, and I am not entirely sure how to feel about it all.
My first round of treatment was met with my insurance
denying claims. They called my diagnosis pre existing, but it was a gap coverage plan, and they often have clauses which allow them to deny claims. This devastated me financially. I had 6 rounds of Cisplatin Chemotherapy, 30 external beam radiation and 5 Brachytherapy (the most brutal part of my treatment so far).
After this first round of treatment, I had a 3 month limbo period waiting to hear if my treatment had worked. It had not, and my cancer had spread into my lymphatic system. This made me stage 4. Once cancer hits stage 4, you are no longer looking at cure, you are simply hoping to manage the disease to buy you more time.
I was given another round of treatment, which started in May of 2025. This was Chemotherapy & Immunotherapy. After being plagued with severe side effects and having multiple trips to the ER, I had to finish this treatment early. And after seeing this had not worked, they told me that there was no hope and I had 2 years.
I started on a new cervical cancer treatment in March of this year, called Tivdak. It causes some crap side effects, especially ocular. I have lost a lot of my vision clarity and suffer severe eye irritations. My hair is also starting to fall out again, so I will probably shave it off once more. If my eyes get any worse they will discontinue this treatment and start me on a new one.
I feel like a Guinea Pig at this point.
For me, this campaign is about raising funds to help me on my journey and continue my fight.
Funds will go towards medical and life expenses. I have been unable to work in two years and I has finally caught up.
Thank you so much for your support. <3
