Hey ๐ I'm Gleb โ founder of the Lentsweletau project
Earlier this year I spent four months in Botswana ๐ and started volunteering for a small church in the village of Lentsweletau. I built and deployed their bilingual website https://lentsweletau.com/en/ ๐, shoot photos for them ๐ธ, and design posters for church events. I've since left the country, but I'm close with the pastor and his family ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ and I'm still helping the community remotely ๐ก.
Right now the Sunday School building needs a real renovation ๐. The roof leaks โ so the classrooms get damp after every rain ๐ง โ and the walls are in rough shape too. The village is small and the community can't cover the repair on its own ๐ธ.
Here's how the flow works, end to end:
โ funds raised from the token I convert P2P into BWP (local currency) ๐ฐ
โ BWP goes directly to the pastor's account ๐ฆ
โ the pastor buys construction materials locally ๐งฑ
โ the church community does all the actual work themselves ๐จ
100% of what lands there goes through the same P2P โ BWP โ pastor flow.
If anyone has thoughts on how this idea could actually work โ please share ๐ฌ. I haven't done anything like this before, so any input from people who've run charity tokens, community fundraises, or just Web3 launches in general would mean a lot ๐
